1.0 out of 5 stars If it sounds to good to be true...., May 3, 2004
This review is from: Toastmaster 2246 Under-the-Cabinet Can Opener (Kitchen)
I had looked in stores and online for the best deal possible on an under cabinet can opener.
I had checked other opinion sites but I should have checked here first because I would never have purchased this can opener had I read the two other negative reviews.
The two other reviews are right on the mark!
The second can (average size can of corn) I opened the little magnet popped off with the lid of the can going inside the can of corn.
I figured it was no big deal as I had some super-duper glue that would surely secure the magnet back in it's place.
The next day and with the glue dried I tried opening a small can of cat food.
The can opener sounded like it was grunting as it opened a quarter of an inch of the can. I tried placing the can in a new position and again the opener grunted and opened another quarter of an inch. I opened the cat food can a quarter of an inch at a time until I could get the lid open enough to slide a butter knife underneath and...Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Regret buying it..., November 11, 2003
This review is from: Toastmaster 2246 Under-the-Cabinet Can Opener (Kitchen)
Thought this would be a great way to "hide" the can opener since it claimed it folded out of sight. It does but you have to unscrew the holder it's in, flip it back and tighten it and it doesn't seem strong enough to hold it. Then when you do fold it down, it doesn't come down completely straight so any can with liquid or juice will likely come spilling out because the can is slanted (unless you hold it straight while the can is opening). Now the blade is starting to not even go into the cans and you have to force it and we've only had it for just over 3 months. For lack of a better description...piece of crap.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product, September 8, 2004

I was new to online shopping when I purchased this product. Now I know to read the reviews. This can opener is the worse I have ever had. It worked for 2 weeks and then the magnet that holds the can lid broke off and I had to glued it back. Now every can light or heavy, small or medium slips off the can when trying to open it. It will only make a hole a couple centimeters at a time. It takes me so long to get it opened enough for me to pry the rest that my arms get tired holding up the can. By the time I am done there are shreds of paper and metal all over and in the can. Please save your money, I am on my way to buy another can opener right now. I might pick up a hand held just in case this happens again.
