This review is from: Swing-A-Way Can Opener, Manual I ordered this Swing-A-Way based solely on the picture which showed the original Swing-A-Way red/white/blue packaging, made in the USA, red circle at the bottom left indicating a 5-year limited guarantee, selected by NASA for Skylab, etc. That is NOT what I received. I received a Swing-A-Way made in China, packaged in white and red, with no indication on the packaging of a guarantee. I have communicated with MVtradingonline and am told their vendor tells them that while Swing-A-Way is still based in the US, their products are now made in China. I understand all that but I am not at all happy with the original Swing-A-Way being pictured on the website and not receiving exactly that. I would never have ordered this item had it been pictured correctly as I would have then known I would not be receivingthe original Swing-A-Way. I have found an original Swing-A-Way in an old old hardware store. I'm happy about that. I decided to buy another one because if the first one lasted 15 years, the next one should last at least another 15, right? You can imagine my utter dissapointment when the item arrived and I found out that this "Made in the USA" product is no longer made in the USA, but in the last year has switched production to China. The result? It's a piece of junk. I could tell from the moment I used it that it wouldn't last a year, let alone 15. I sent this thing packing right back to where it came from.Buyer beware -- Swing-A-Way used to make the ultimate can opener right here in the USA; now they have shipped the jobs and quality to China. What's left is a name and a can opener I wouldn't buy in the dollar store if it was on clearance for 10-cents! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Swing-A-Way Can Opener, Manual Since 2008, models 107, 407, 709 and 6090 appear to be made in China and are inferior to the original which had "Made in USA" stamped on the metal arm. |
