This is not the average thin, wimpy apple slicer you may have seen. It is Rosle quality in every detail, down to the hole to hang it and the small center area for the core (so you get ALL the apple.) It cuts promptly thru the largest apple in even slices. The raised handles make it easy to use, even for weaklings. Dishwasher safe. Highly recommended.

Mine came with a plastic cover to preserve the cutting edge.
I use it every day and it gets thrown in the dishwasher every day; I've had it about a year.
I threw away my old Kitchenaid plastic-handled piece of junk, and even a hand-me-down Pampered Chef, and this works better than my parents' 8-16 piece apple cutter. This one is very nicely made. I didn't realize there could be such a huge difference in designs of such a simple object!
THIS IS A WINNER. I'm looking for other Rosle products.

In 2008 I purchased the Leifheit Pro Line Stainless Steel Apple Slicer/Corer from Amazon for $13.99 (no longer sold) because I wanted to cut an apple into 12 wedges. However, I took this one to work and wanted a cutter that was equal or better than the Leifheit. Although the Leifheit is a good cutter and more expensive than most store bought OXO Good Grips and other similar cutters, none of those I tried can compare to the quality of this Rosle Apple Cutter. However, this Rosle cutter only cuts 8 apple wedges instead of 12, but that is fine with me.
This apple slicer from Germany is expensive but it is SURPRISINGLY worth the purchase. It cuts through apples as if they were butter because the blades are sharp and fine. It also comes with a protective plastic blade guard / shield to cover the blades when not in use. There's also a hole in the handle for hanging from a hook. If it weren't for the other reviewers, I would not have purchased this item because I thought...Read more
