Product Review

When designing kitchen tools, some manufacturers simply concentrate on function while others concern themselves more with the design. At Rosle, the engineers and artisans combine the best of both worlds spending hours - actually days, months and sometimes years - developing and designing each of their tools to exacting standards and specifications. Like this Potato Masher. Puree a lot of spuds in no time with the 10.2-in. tool. Sturdy stainless steel construction features twin arms and well-positioned holes for effortless mashing. Large handle with flat cap makes for an ideal grip. Easy to clean..

Amazon.com Review

One of Rösle's superb kitchen tools, this 10.24-inch masher has a round, flat head with many sharp-edged holes for thoroughly mashing potatoes, squash, carrots, and other vegetables and fruit. A cap between the handle and head allows the user to apply force with the side of the hand so it's not necessary to grip the handle too tightly. Like all Rösle tools, utensils, and Open Kitchen storage components, this masher is made of 18/10 stainless steel for rustproof beauty and long-lasting durability. The round handle has a satin finish to conceal finger marks. The handle is sealed against water and has a hanging ring so the masher can be conveniently stored on a hook in the Open Kitchen system of Rösle basic rails and Gridwalls or hung on any hook or peg. The masher is sturdy, balanced, and exceptionally comfortable in the hand. All Rösle products are dishwasher-safe, and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

After having several other potato mashers fall apart on me during the most inconvienient situations (i.e., while mashing avocados for guacamole), and nearly being impaled in the process, I bought a Rosle. The difference is phenomenal. Rosle's products combine great ergonomic engineering with high-quality stainless construction, and the masher is no exception. Its design allows the cook to combine just the right amount of force more precisely, resulting in effortless and lump-free mashing (no more problems with cranky avocados), and it cleans up easily. I've had mine for over a month, and suspect it will be the last potato masher I'll ever buy -- unless, of course, I need an additional Rosle.

The masher is a smash design. No way to ignore that. It works very effectively too. My only hesitation to award five stars is that it's fabricated in China and I have my doubts of the durability of the item. Had I but known I would not have purchased it. I assumed a Rösle Potato Masher would be made in Germany, especially at the price charged.

Looks great, easy, productive mashing, ideal results, very easy to clean, and very sturdy.

The round masher is less ideal, however, than an oval masher. Requires some stirring to get at potatoes next to edge of the pot (oval mashers better fit against larger inside curvature of pot). Harder to store than oval masher (does not fit in drawer).
