I absolutely love this can opener!! It is amazingly easy to use and does not hurt using it. If you know anyone who has arthritis or other problems in their hands or wrists this is the can opener for them. My mom who can't use any cans openers loves this as well. This safety I can opener does not leave behind any sharp spots on the cans so there is no more worries about getting bad cuts. It also does not rusk like other openers do after getting wet or not dried completely. I think this can opener will last a very long time compared to the usual month or two. This can opener is the only one I would ever recommend. Progressive truely makes great products.

I have changed the rating from 5 stars to 1. After a while, this can opener started creating loose splinters.

Threw it out after getting a couple slivers deep into my hand and learning that it happened to my wife too. Mostly used it to open pet food cans, and I am horrified to think that some slivers may have made their way into the food.

I have had this style can opener since 2006 (different maker) and still going strong. I know I can't live without it so I just ordered a second one from Amazon just in case.

I think this is the best can opener ever! I particularly like the rachet movement instead of turning a handle or knob. The rachet style is great if you have arthritis in your fingers or problems with your wrists (as another reviewer mentioned). It doesn't matter if you are left handed (like me) or right handed - a bonus for sure.

This can opener is very easy to attach and the lid lifter takes the mess out of removing the lid. I also found that opening a can is much quicker than the other styles where you are constantly turning and turning. I've never liked the electric can openers as I've had cans plop down on the counter and make quite a mess.
