My husband likes to buy all kinds of kitchen gadgets. I think he thinks he's an Iron Chef! He is a great cook, but our drawers and pantry are full of utensils we rarely use anymore.

We've had several can openers including the one that opens the can lids without leaving a sharp edge...what a struggle. It was great with leaving non-sharp edges but a pain to use. We've also had an expensive can opener that we used for many years and was replaced with this purchase. Our previous can opener was similar in construction to this one, in that the cutting edge is on the inside lip of the can and the outer edge grips the outside of the can. I would often struggle, not only to get the old can opener to attach correctly on both sides, but invariably during my manual turning, the pressure would be inconsistent and the can would skip cutting part of the lid. It would take several tries of going back and forth in various places to finally get the lid off.

One of the children recently noted that this can opern will not remove the top of a frozen soda can, but given any reasonable task, this is the next best thing to an electric can opener. Not as fun as a plasma torch, but substantially neater. A huge improvement over the kitchen-aid it replaces.

This is a solid canopener, easy to use. The handle is large enough to grip comfortable and turns easily. It has lots of extras like the built in church-key and the wedge for those tab top cans that are difficult to start.
