We purchased this because we had a scuzzy, plastic colander and wanted to replace it with a more substantial one.
This item gets used daily and we love it. It is stainless, sits on 4 little "legs" to keep food from sitting in its own water, and is easy to use. A BIG plus is that it can go anywhere in the dishwasher.
It is worth the money.

I love this strainer. It's absolutely fabulous, functional, and attractive. Be careful when you put it in the dishwasher though. Mine started to rust in a few spots, so we wash it by hand now. I think that if your dishwasher dries the dishes it would be ok, but mine are still wet when the cycle is complete. If yours does that too, you'll need to pull it out and dry it immediately.

having had two stainless steel colanders before this one, i am appreciating the higher quality of this product and the added benefit of the rubber handles and feet.
