Most can openers I've owned (and I've had a number of them) are difficult for me to use. The problem for me arises from having to twist my hands and fingers to operate the can opener. The twisting motion is what causes pain and discomfort, especially when I'm experiencing an arthritis flare-up. This one works. And works so well that I feel like finally...this is it, this is the one. I find it very easy to use and there is no pain at all. This can opener is labelled for left handers but I think that's misleading. Anyone can use it. Although I'm ambidextrous due to having to compensate for a deformed right hand, I'm not technically left handed. It's a breeze to use: install it on the can opener which takes a second, then lift and lower the top handle repeatedly until the can is opened. I'm very happy to have found this can opener. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Lefty Safety Lid Lifter, Red/Black (Kitchen) This can opener works and does leave a can top nice and clean of sharp edges. My only problem is you have to lift the black handle and then close in and repeat this process until you are all the way around the can.
It takes a little effort to do and would not be good for the elderly or someone with arthritis. By Tsuru (Athens, GA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Lefty Safety Lid Lifter, Red/Black (Kitchen) Got this for my lefty wife but I found it was just as easy to use for a righty. Does what it says and cleanly removes lids. The little pincer tool used to pluck out the lid is a bit small and therefore awkward to use, but not that big of a deal. |
