I find this to be a hit or miss product. When it works, it works great, when it doesn't work as designed its very frustrating. I will say the opener does work 80-90% of the time. What tends to happen is the gripper wheel for lack of the better term, will slip and cause the cut wheel to not line up. once this happends you either have to recut the line (causing shards of alumnium) or it will not cut at all. When it worked it was great for reusing the can to store left overs.
A very cool tool,

I have a thumb injury and this opener makes the job of opening cans very easy. It's comfortable to hold on to and the empty can and lid are both left with no sharp edges. It took a bit to get used to as it clamps on differently than most openers. I ordered four more openers to give as gifts.

The item is bigger than I expected but it's no trouble for me to manage it with my girl hands. The directions for how to line it up are not the best, it's easier if you tilt the can and look at it to be sure you fit the tool on top correctly. It cuts the side of the can as promised. The cut is made where the end of the can overlaps the body of the can, this 'bump' is halved and the end of the can is able to be pulled off and pressed back on fairly securely. With absolutely no sharp edges! The information that came with the can opener does state that continuing to work the tool beyond having opened it may cause burrs and sharp bits. It's very easy to tell when the resistance slackens off to know when to stop so that should not be a problem.
The body of the tool is heavy plastic, the knob is coated with that rubbery feeling stuff for better gripping, and the cutting mechanism is all metal. This is a well made item.
I can't say as to the ergonomics of the design,...Read more
