The Swiss are famous for packing multiple tools into a single package. The Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Master Opener has all the features of the Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety LidLifter can openers. It is now possible to open a can and never, ever touch the lid. All you do is place the opener on the can and begin turning the comfortable knob. The tool automatically locks in place. The tool cuts from the side leaving a rim smooth, not sharp or jagged. The tiny, strong jaws on the side of the opener remove the lid. Press down on the white button to close the jaws on the lid and when you are ready to drop the lid into the recycling container, just release the button. Safe, ergonomic and just plain cool. When I received this, it was bigger than I expected, but it has a good clean finish, and doesn't look cheap.

Right away I tried it on a can , and kept turning and turning, and nothing was happening. I had read some reviews before and some users have complained that it is too complicated or doesn't work, and I was getting worried that it is really a difficult tool to use.

I rarely read the instructions, but this time read the few lines, and followed them. The can still didn't open. I tried it on the other side of the can. After one full turn, I did feel a subtle change in resistance, and stopped. I used the clipper/gripper, and pulled with a little force the the lid came off very nicely and cleanly. I went back to the other side of the can, and pulled on it, and that came off perfectly as well. This is a great can opener. This cuts the middle of the lid roll and leaves no sharp edges to cut plastic trash bags or hands or tongues if you like to lick the can lids. Easy and fun to use. I've seen some reviewers indicate they have problems making this opener work. But everyone from my 10 year old grandson to my non-mechanically inclined wife can open cans with ease. Highly recommended.

The Swiss Army co. does it again. Terrific can opener, I choose a manual can opener over an automatic version, always. This device doesn't require a person to have super human strength to use or a 30 page manual, all I can say is take a few minutes to understand how it works.
