I bought this product at a Kohl's store for around 15 dollars. I took it home and made some baked beans. After the FIRST use of this can opener, it stopped working. It no longer can grip onto the rim of cans so it cannot punch into the metal. Absolutely the worst purchase I have ever made! Do not buy this product!

who made this terrible device? it takes me more than three tries to even make a slight cut around the edge of the can. what ever happened to quality control?
there's no strength when I use the handles on this "can opener" and its two blades don't cut deep enough in the metal. I have not ever opened a can once with this can opener, and I've had this thing for a few years.
awful awful product.
I miss the good old days where can openers actually opened cans.

How difficult is it to make a decent working can opener? Is can opening technology really that difficult? Our opener worked flawlessly... for about a week. Now it's easier to use this "tool" to beat the can until it splits open than to try to use it as it was intended. Alton Brown said that KitchAid, though they make one amazing stand mixer, can't seem to make decent hand tools and I'd agree. Out KitchenAid hand mixer from a few years back was also a piece of junk with plastic gears.
