But this can opener was a real disappointment. It is not that I expect something priced like this to be the last can opener I ever need to buy, but in less than a month, having opened between 5-10 cans, if that many, the point only pierced that final can with my husband's full strength. When he attempted to turn the handle, the blade was almost completely dull, leaving the can top looking like lacework, and the blade only stuttered with extreme effort. Halfway around, it gave up entirely, and was immediately relegated to the trash can. The parts had separated and bent out-of-true, making it useless. I feel this was poorly designed and constructed, and would suggest another choice, rather than face the age old dilemma, is the can half-open...or half-closed? 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Farberware Professional Can Opener, Black (Kitchen) I'm typically fairly forgiving of small problems with a product. Especially when its cheap to begin with. (You often get what you pay for) But this thing wasn't even worth the scrap it was made from. The Gear & Blade didn't line up quite right, but I considered that forgivable, as it DID puncture the can, and start turning smoothly... Problem was that about half way trough the can the handle came off in my hand! Surprised, as I hadn't been forcing it, I put it back on, only for it to pop off once again almost immediately. I then decided not to put the spring back in, and see if that helped.. It didn't. I ended up chucking it in the trash and walking over to the local store to buy another Can Opener, so I could actually finish opening the can the rest of the way. A waste of money if ever there was one. By This review is from: Farberware Professional Can Opener, Black (Kitchen) I bought 2 of these because they looked the most heavy duty, and had a lifetime warranty. The first one ceased to function entirely with three weeks. Incidentally, I always followed the can opener instructions for operation, cleaning and maintenance to the letter. I am returning them both today for store credit.
