I had high expectations for this item given the good reviews, but am bitterly disappointed in this, which has proved to be a useless, gimmicky tool. It isn't grippy enough or long enough to get proper leverage to twist the lid off a jar (those grippy rubber sheets work much better), is barely adequate for opening things like beer bottles because the metal bit is too thick and short and the opening too big to grip properly (a typical bottle opener works much better) and the metal part on this tool is too thick to get between the lid and the jar in order to break the seal on a jar (running hot water over a jar and using a butter knife works better). Flimsy plastic construction - I don't see this lasting for more than a few years - unless I never or rarely use it which seems likely. I would not recommend it and regret the purchase.

I have arthritis in my hands and this can opener is the best one I have found to help me open soda cans.
