Cuisinart Hand Can Opener, Pink

I bought this can opener basically because it was pink, and a Cuisinart. It got pretty good reviews and only cost $13.99 with free shipping. Initially, it worked great. After about a month, it wasn't so great, but usable, ( and still pink!). Now 5 months later, it won't cut ANYTHING. When I contacted the seller, they said they only cover it for 1 month. They said Cuisinart offers a 5 yr limited warranty, so I contacted them. They wanted me to ship it back to them, at MY expense, for a "pro-rated" amount. I'd be luck to get $2 back. No offer to replace/reimburse. What a gyp! I will never get another Cuisinart product. What kind of a company won't stand behind its product, or at least, in good faith, replace it?
