Amazon.com Review
An electric can opener is a welcome convenience in most home kitchens and is indispensable to cooks with arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. This easy-to-operate version from Cuisinart sports a contemporary brushed chrome finish, making it a more elegant-looking appliance than the electric can openers of yesteryear. At 7-1/2 inches from arm to base, this tool handles containers of many different sizes, from tuna fish tins to large cans of tomatoes. The powerful and sharp blade pierces and cuts lids, ensuring that cans open on the first try. The magnetic lid holder and guiding posts secure cans so they don't tip while the opener is running and aren't released prematurely. The arm is removable for thorough cleaning and the rest of the unit wipes clean easily. Cuisinart backs this can opener with a three-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Must have, but needs improvement, February 7, 2003

In a household where someone is always cooking something, an electric can opener is a must have, and this one fits that bill just fine. A few things we like about it are:
1- VERY quiet operation 2- TALL - you can fit just about any sized can under it 3- Extremely smooth operation. Some can openers I have used are choppy 4- Opens cans effortlessly
A few things we don't like:
1- MADE OF PLASTIC!! Although it is brushed chrome, it does not tell you anywhere that the brushed chrome is PLASTIC! 2- Splatters the contents of the can all over the place when it completely cuts the lid off. For canned veggies, no problem, you just wipe up some water. But it makes a huge mess for canned tomatoes. Never really had this problem with electric can openers before.
Overall, it is worth the [money] for the convenience, but there are a few things that could be better.

You're definitely paying extra for the Cuisinart name, and I'm suprised they'd put it on something so poorly designed. I was expecting more given their reputation. It's plastic, light, and not very stable. It's VERY difficult to get the can to mesh with the cutter blade ... it usually takes me three tries. The cutter arm is held on with a tiny T-shaped piece of plastic that splits easily (ask me how I know). And to top it all off, it yanks the top up and splashes food around when it's done. Don't bother ... I wish I hadn't. I feel like I've been taken.

1. It is PLASTIC, Cuisinart never advertised this as plastic, it has a great chrome color but plastic...boo...looks cheap 2. The Can Opener SPLATTERS way too much, what a mess. 3. Great Height and Color Improvements are definitely needed.I'm so disappointed in Cuisinart, they used to provide quality products. This is not a quality product.
