I've bought this item almost 2 years ago, but have used it for a year now (since i got married), and the gears are worn, it won't work anymore, and the use is not much, about 1 can per day, or less, the product worked very well the first times, very nice and smooth to use, but it's useless now, no sense buying something that won't last.

I do not like the way the rubber handles found on other kitchen gadgets feel and I have had good sucess with this Cuisinart line in the past. This can opener works well and I will continue to by this line of product. Kitchen-Aid also has a hard-plastic-handle line of products that I like too.
