This cleverly designed appliance turns the chore of opening cans into a hands-free operation that's as much fun as it is effective. The opener is cordless so it goes anywhere, eliminating the need to carry a can to a countertop or mounted electric opener. Simply clamp the opener onto any size can and let go of the soft-grip, ergonomic handle. The opener then walks around the can on its own, shutting off automatically when the can is open. It's lightweight and recharges in a compact, 3-1/2-inch-diameter storage base. Standing in the base, the opener is 8 inches high. Summary: Too bad they seem to be extinct; non-replaceable battery 2010-03-01
Comment: Probably the best little can opener that has ever existed, especially for people with arthritic hands. I'm on my third and my mother is on her second. It's just a shame that they didn't make it like a cordless phone, easy to snap open and replace the battery. Once the battery dies--and it will--you are probably done. I have had very limited success with my attempts to jerry-rig a phone battery into it. And now it look like they've stopped making it. What is wrong with B&D, they also seem to have stopped making one of the best rice cooker/vegetable steamers I ever owned.

Summary: Love the Black and Decker ERGO can opener 2009-11-01
Comment: I have had this can opener before and I love the small size and the ability to use it anywhere-not just in on spot in the kitchen. I could not find it in the retail stores anymore. All they had was the big bulky ugly electric can openers. This can opener does not take up alot of counter space. Please keep making it. Purchasing it on Amazon.com was quick and easy.

Comment: This can opener is great for those who are easily amused. I ordered it recently, my second one. The first one lasted for years and years and finally just wore out. I wasn't ready to give up the fun factor of it, so I hunted it down on Amazon and ordered another one. I rarely have problems lining up cans with it and it works fine, just like it should. Plus, it still cracks me up after all the years to watch it go around the can on its own.

Comment: I am very pleased with this can opener. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it, but once you do it's easy to use.
It holds a charge for a long time and is super-lightweight.
It will move easily around larger cans and does not leave marks all over the counters from spinning the cans around the opener.
