The blade finally broke and I needed another one to replace it so I chose the same model, only because I like the way it looks under the counter and it will fit into the already existing holes in the cabinet. Black and Decker should test this product more extensively before selling it. The guide never guided anything and the blade never operated correctly on irregular shaped cans. I am sorry that no other brand fit in the existing holes because if they did, I would not buy this model. This is the only product from Black and Decker that I find fault with. 15 of 17 people found the following review helpful: By Chicago Dreamer "chicagodreamer" (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Black & Decker EC600 Spacemaker Under-Counter Can Opener (Kitchen) Black & Decker -- Shame On You! This can opener hasn't worked right since after about the first 7 or 8 times. Unfortunately, the period expired when I could return it, and now I'm stuck with it. It's not designed well, but it's very pretty. I bought the thing so I could have clear countertops, and I do, but I can't open any cans. What a disappointing product! If there was a "minus stars" I would rate it in that column. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: Black & Decker EC600 Spacemaker Under-Counter Can Opener (Kitchen) I use this opener daily, and I have had trouble with it from day one. Its hard to get started, once it finishes cutting the lid it 'jerks' to a stop (so those cans of beans splash liquid everywhere). The magnetic lever that holds the lid won't stay up out of the way; most of the time I have great difficulty removing the can from the can opener (so even more liquid splashes everywhere); and last night, it wouldn't stop rotating! This opener is not for the weak as it takes some strength to operate the lever. Most of the time I am using the old hand can opener that I thankfully kept. I am not buying a B & D opener again! |
