Hamilton Beach 76389 OpenMate Station- Black

I took a chance buying this from BMBrooks.COM though I'd never heard of them because the pricing for the Hamilton Beach Open Mate Station was $31 w/shipping. When I recd the order, it was missing the "easy grip" feature & the top looked like the opener was dirty and used. I called customer service, was transferred to "expedited parts" dept,got cut off, called again, waited 10 min to be connected to an insolent jerk in "expedited parts" that said I'd have to call the manufacturer, Hamilton Beach because it wasn't BM Brook's problem. I called back to report the non-existent customer service; was told they would report it to their supervisor; recd a "ticket" notification (support Ticket #8863 has been created and has been forwarded to the proper department)and 2 wks later haven't heard zip. I called the mfg., and of course, they are out of that part. Now, I have a can opener missing a part, and saw it today @ Walmart for $26 bucks. First off this product had a giant sticker plastered to the front of the unit that left very visible remnants of the adhesive once removed. I tried to use GooGone on it and the lousy finish melted off with the adhesive! The unit now looks beat-up and ugly and I have to store it in a cupboard!
Secondly, the can opener SUCKS! Perhaps you need to be a member of MENSA to use this contraption! It is extremely difficult to get the blade to latch on to the can and if you DO get it to latch on, it doesn't usually last long enough to open the entire can. The first time I used it the can of corn I was trying to open got mutilated and the can fell off the opener, spilling juice all over my counter and floor! You're better off getting a Hand-held can opener from the Dollar store than wasting your money on this junk!

This can opener worked great at first, but after just a couple of weeks it developed the bad habit of running on even after the can has been opened and removed...the cutting blade continues rotating noisily. Re-booting (unplugging and plugging the cord back in) doesn't fix it. We have to take the opener apart and fiddle with it to make it stop.
