Summary: lid lifter 2009-11-23
Comment: this is a great concept but the magnet is too weak to lift the lid out of the water, a fork works much better. I wasted the money I spent on this product!

Summary: A canning must have! 2009-11-10
Comment: For anyone who cans, this is a valuable, inexpensive gadget to have. It will keep your fingers from getting burned and will help keep your lids sterile.

Summary: It was cheap and I got what I paid for 2009-09-19
Comment: Magnet is weak and the product is cheap. I can barely get a hot lid out of the water bath. 1/2 the time the lid falls back into the pan. I was expecting a magnet that could lift the lid from the center and instead the lid dangles from an edge. I could probably make something better myself from arts & craft supplies. Maybe that's what they mean by 'Back to Basics'...

Summary: Useful... would be moreso if the magnet were stronger 2009-09-14
Comment: This lid lifter definitely comes in handy when heating lids to can... I only wish the magnet were stronger. It usually grabs onto the edge of the lid, but occasionally the lid slips off back into the water. Definitely a good bargain though.

Summary: Couldn't Find in Small Town USA 2009-09-13
Comment: I live in a small town and couldn't find one of these magnetic lid lifters; I'd even tried to make my own but couldn't find a safe glue that held up to hot water! So I was happy to find this one and have been pleased with this simple little tool.
